Chief Security Advisor: Hungary’s effective border control system would become unlawful under EU proposal

Hungary’s chief security advisor has said the introduction of a common EU asylum procedure would make the existing Hungarian procedure impossible

Hungary’s chief security advisor has said the introduction of a common EU asylum procedure would make the existing Hungarian procedure impossible.

During an interview on M1 television, György Bakondi said Hungary’s ‘effective’ border control system would become unlawful under the proposal.

Bakondi also commented on the special report on Hungary being prepared by the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE). He said the proposal, as well as several other pieces of draft legislation, includes many “false statements and factual errors”.

“In Brussels they are doing everything possible to realize the predetermined ‘migration goal’, which is about mandatory resettlement and turning illegal migration into a fundamental human right,” Bakondi said. “This is what the Hungarian government’s migration policy is standing in the way of,” he added.
