Film commissioner congratulates Hungarian Oscar winner

Csaba Káel has congratulated Zsuzsanna Sipos on winning the Academy Award for Best Production Design for the film Dune and to the Hungarian team working on the film.

Csaba Káel, the government commissioner for developing Hungary’s motion picture industry, has congratulated Zsuzsanna Sipos on winning the Academy Award for Best Production Design for the film Dune and to the Hungarian team working on the film. Sipos won the Oscar in partnership with Patrice Vermette. They also won this year’s BAFTA.

In a statement to MTI, Káel said “Dune’s success at the Oscar is also a recognition of the Hungarian film industry and the outstanding work of Hungarian film professionals”. He noted that Dune, one of last year’s blockbusters, was filmed almost entirely in Hungary with the involvement of hundreds of Hungarian film industry professionals. “A big congratulations to the Hungarian experts who have contributed to this world success. The entire profession is overjoyed at Zsuzsanna Sipos’ Oscar and it also goes to show that we have world-class talents. It also sends the message to the world that Hungarian filmmakers are among the best,” Káel said in a statement.
