Twenty films have been put forward for selection by the Hungarian Film Fund for the Oscars this year, it has been revealed.
According to MTI, the jury of the recently reformed Hungarian film funding system will sample the movies to put forward Hungary's pick for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Andy Vajna’s reform of Hungary's film fund played a huge part in the success of two Oscar-winning Hungarian films, Son of Saul in 2016 and Sing in 2017. Hungary is hoping for more success at the 2018 ceremony.
The jury of seven, comprising producers, directors and university teachers, will decide in September on the film Hungary enters into the mix. The academy will announce the short list of nominees on January 23, 2018.
