Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said cooperation is expected to tighten between the Hungarian and African Olympic movements in future based on mutual respect
Following talks with Mustapha Berraf, President of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), Minister Szijjártó said Africa's role was increasing rapidly not only in global politics and the global economy, but also in global sports.
Apart from the fact that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) will now have its first African president, infrastructure developments are taking place rapidly in Africa, and the Summer Youth Olympics will soon be held there, the minister said.
Minister Szijjártó said Hungary will sign two agreements with the ANOCA, one on holding sports diplomacy training for African sports leaders at the Hungarian Diplomatic Academy, and another one to grant scholarships to young African athletes at Hungarian universities.
