FM: Hungary has been urging 'ceasefire and peace talks' in Ukraine for three years

The foreign minister said that "we have been thrashed for that position for three years."

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said on Facebook on Wednesday: "The Hungarian government has been urging a ceasefire and peace talks in Ukraine for three years". The foreign minister added that "we have been thrashed for that position for three years."

"After three years, at last, a ceasefire and starting peace negotiations are on the agenda," Minister Szijjártó said. If that had happened earlier, "there would have been many hundred thousand fewer deaths, many millions would not have been forced to flee and the damages would be worth hundreds of billions of euros less," the minister said.
