FM: Government hopes Trump's peace efforts in Ukraine will succeed

The Fidesz-KDNP group and the Patriots for Europe rejected her re-election from the start, but the situation has got even worse over the past year.
The prime minister said that on this day last year, he had "long talks concerning opportunities for a ceasefire and peace" with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The foreign minister said the government continues to promote a peace agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia following years of conflict.
The Hungarian government would continue to do everything it could to support the US president’s peace efforts.
"Hungary does not support any initiative that aims to send even more money and weapons to Ukraine, especially when the bill must be paid by us, Hungarians," the foreign minister said.
"It is clear that the European economy can’t bear the burdens of the war in Ukraine and the amount being spent on aid," Gergely Gulyás said.
"Hungary is concerned about the global spread of terrorism, so we support every initiative and effort that aims to curb it," Minister Szijjártó said.
Minister Szijjártó welcomed the "wise decision" that had eliminated a source of tension and contributed to regional and, in turn, global security.
Hungary’s government was already calling for an immediate ceasefire and peace talks at the start of the war, Minister Szijjártó said.
The foreign minister said that "we have been thrashed for that position for three years."
Minister Szijjártó said "mankind lives in an age of peril" as armed conflicts became more frequent and more violent.
The prime minister said Hungary and the Vatican had taken the side of peace from the beginning, and now the US was also on the side of peace.
