Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said relations between Hungary and Luxembourg lately have been "once again" characterised by mutual respect.
Minister Szijjártó welcomed his Luxembourgian counterpart, Xavier Bettel, in Budapest for the first time in his decade-long tenure. The visit also marked the centenary of diplomatic ties between the two countries, Minister Szijjártó said.
Minister Szijjártó and Bettel discussed issues of bilateral cooperation and the economic challenges facing the EU.
"The ties of the two countries are once again characterised by mutual respect," Minister Szijjártó said.
The volume of bilateral trade has grown fourfold in the past decade, he said. "Improving the EU's competitiveness is a common goal, so we support measures necessary to operate a rules-based world trade system free from artificial obstacles," Minister Szijjártó said.
