FM: Hungary-Slovakia ties are at a high point

The foreign minister said good neighborly relations are being properly practised by both countries, with a focus on what binds rather than separates them.

The foreign minister has underlined how Hungary-Slovakia ties are currently at a high point.

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said on Thursday, after inaugurating a power line traversing the two countries above the River Danube at Gönyű, in north-western Hungary, that good neighborly relations are being properly practised by both countries, with a focus on what binds rather than separates them.

Minister Szijjártó said the power lines are 1.5km long between Gönyű and Gabčikovo (Bős) and 23km between Sajóivánka and Rimavská Sobota (Rimaszombat). Last year, bilateral trade turnover totalled more than 10 billion euros, he said, adding that Slovakia is Hungary’s third most important trading partner.
