Hungary's foreign minister has said that the UN migration pact has everything to facilitate migration but nothing to keep it in check.
"This package only takes into account the interests of the migrants but does not deal with the interests of those who want to live in peace and safety in their own countries," Minister Szijjártó said during an official visit to Liechtenstein.
According to MTI, the minister said the fact that 40 states did not vote on the migration pact is a clear indication that the attempts to make the document one of international reference lack credibility and are unacceptable.
During his talks in Liechtenstein, the foreign minister said the issue of migration was a central one, adding that the parliament of Liechtenstein also had a day of debate about migration and due to the concerns voiced there, the country eventually abstained from voting on the pact.
"I said that Hungary will continue to deny the entry of all illegal migrants, we consider the protection of our borders a national security issue and we will continue to defend our borders - which we consider to be a solely nation competence," Minister Szijjártó said.
