FM: TurkStream pipeline is ‘indispensable’ for central Europe’s gas supplies

Minister Szijjártó said the TurkStream pipeline has been a reliable delivery route for years.

Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said the TurkStream pipeline is "indispensable" for ensuring central Europe’s gas supplies, and Hungary expects everyone to respect the security and operability of this supply route.

Minister Szijjártó said the TurkStream pipeline has been a reliable delivery route for years, adding that both gas suppliers and transit countries honoured their contractual obligations and "behave reliably".

He said the security of the energy supply was a matter of sovereignty, and Hungary considered any action endangering its energy security an attack on its national sovereignty.

In his post, Minister Szijjártó shared an article published on news portal Index citing a report from Russia’s defence ministry that Ukraine had attacked infrastructure critical to the operations of the TurkStream pipeline.
