Hungary's foreign minister has said the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) is doing the same thing as Dutch Green MEP Judith Sargentini and other pro-migration politicians.
Péter Szijjártó, minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said they attack Hungary because it does not let illegal migrants enter its territory.
The minister reacted to an OHCHR press release published on Tuesday in which UN experts expressed serious concerns about the Hungarian government’s latest measures concerning migrants and civil society.
The “pro-migration heavy artillery” has been deployed against Hungary, Minister Szijjártó said in a statement.
“They will make every effort to flood Hungary and the whole of Europe with migrants,” he added.
The OHCHR “represents the interests of George Soros and immigrants," similarly to Sargentini and her followers, he added.
He said the Hungarian government will continue to protect Hungary’s borders and considers the organisation of illegal migration a serious crime, which will be firmly sanctioned.
Minister Szijjártó said Hungary will inform the OHCHR that security is the most basic human right and European people have the right to live in security. “We will insist on enforcing this right and protect the security of Hungary and, accordingly, Europe as a whole,” he said.
