Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said in a post on Facebook that it is hoped the US-Russia "Wrestling for Peace" matches held in Budapest will ease ties between the two countries, just as US-China ping-pong diplomacy did in the 1970s.
The foreign minister noted that the freestyle matches are being organised by the Professional Wrestling League (PWL) in ten weight categories and held in the Kozma Istvan Hungarian Wrestling Academy.
Minister Szijjártó noted that the President of the Russian Wrestling Federation, Mikhail Mamiashvili and the executive director of USA Wrestling, Rich Bender, will attend the event.
