Gál: Strong conservative right-wing “is needed” in European Parliament

Kinga Gál said bad decisions had been made in Brussels over the past five years.

Kinga Gál, the head of the ruling Fidesz party’s European parliamentary group, said a strong conservative right-wing “is needed” in the European Parliament. Speaking in Madrid at a panel discussion held at the Europa Viva 2024 convention organized by the Spanish Vox party, Gál said bad decisions had been made in Brussels over the past five years. “The European Commission has responded to recent crises hitting Europe by centralising while weakening member states. This trend must be reversed.” Gál said she was confident that the Hungarian presidency of the European Council starting in July would be successful as real issues affecting European citizens, such as strengthening European competitiveness and defence capabilities, would be given priority.
