Hollik: Hungary’s “dollar left” receives ongoing funding from a network abroad

István Hollik said a report submitted to the national security committee and press reports point to leftist parties receiving funding from multiple sources, aimed at influencing Hungarian politics.

István Hollik, the communications director of ruling Fidesz, said Hungary’s “dollar left” is receiving ongoing, substantial funding from a network abroad.

Speaking to MTI on Saturday, Hollik said a report submitted to the national security committee and press reports point to leftist parties receiving funding from multiple sources, aimed at influencing Hungarian politics. “Originally, we thought foreign funding of the dollar left was a one-off thing… but dollars keep rolling to the dollar left and dollar media,” he said. Hollik said the identity of some donors and beneficiaries of the funding was now known. At the same time, the source of much of the money is still unknown, he said. He called on the opposition to “tell us where all that money comes from. Tell us finally if George Soros is at the other end of the money tap!”
