The Hungarian government’s economy protection plan triggered by the novel coronavirus epidemic has so far helped nearly one million people.

Speaking at a ceremony in Vác, László Palkovics, Minister of Innovation and Technology, said job protection was a priority in economic protection.

So far, employers have applied for support to preserve 106,000 jobs, he said, including some 10,000 applications in R+D.

Government-sponsored IT courses have received some 50,000 applications from jobseekers and students.

Students can also avail themselves of an interest-free loan “to finance the costs of the transitional period,” he added.
