Hungarian police to assist Serbia and North Macedonia with border protection

A 29-strong Hungarian police unit will be sent to North Macedonia and 10 officers to Serbia to assist local forces in border protection.

The Hungarian police has sent a 29-strong unit to North Macedonia and 10 officers to Serbia to assist local forces in border protection. According to MTI, the units will report to local law enforcement and use their own equipment. This will be the 71st contingent to serve in North Macedonia and the 59th in Serbia. The Hungarian officers will mostly patrol the border to prevent and investigate illegal border entries, and will cooperate with local forces in arresting people smugglers and illegal migrants.
