Hungarians win at European Canoe Championships

Zsófia Czéllai-Vörös won the 2018 European Canoe Marathon Championships held in Croatia.

Zsófia Czéllai-Vörös has won the women's under-23 K1 title at the 2018 European Canoe Marathon Championships in Metković, Croatia.

Competing on the Neretva River, Czéllai-Vörös secured an impressive win, clocking a time of 1 hour, 43 minutes and 34.94 seconds. 

Sára Mihalik secured second place, in a time of 2 minutes and 27 seconds down on the winner.

Hungary had a strong start to the championships this year. 

Dóra Horányi won the C1 junior women’s competition in a time of 1:03:26.78. Zsófia Csorba picked up third place in the same discipline. 

Hungary’s Viktória Nagy picked up second place in the final women's event on the opening day. 

Another Hungarian title came in the men’s C1 junior event, where Jordán Fajta won in 1:35:04.25. Márton Horváth picked up third place. 

Hungary’s Vince Petro also picked up third place in the K1 men's category. 

More canoe action is due over the weekend in the senior events.
