Hungary hits back at Asselborn's 'tumor' comment

Minister Szijjártó said Asselborn’s comments were “of no interest” since he was not included in the register of Hungarian voters

Péter Szijjártó, minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, has responded to comments made by Luxembourg’s foreign minister in relation to Sunday’s landslide victory.

Jean Asselborn, a member of the European People’s Party, has said the EU should take “firm action” considering the election victory by Hungary’s Fidesz party and remove the “malignancies” appearing in its common values.

Asselborn told German daily Die Welt that Germany, France and all “non-disinterested” EU members would, under European agreements, need to “remove the tumor fast”.

Minister Szijjártó said Asselborn’s comments were “of no interest” since he was not included in the register of Hungarian voters.
