Hungary launches successful first stage of the V4 Bicycle Race

Hungary placed 13th in the first round of the race, but final placings will be decided following similar events in the remaining V4 nations

The ministry of foreign affairs and trade was  celebrating the successful outcome of the V4 Bicycle Race through Hungary over the weekend.

Cycling legends Nico Mattan and Gilberto Simoni started the 176.3km Hungarian leg of the tour, which saw 106 competitors take part.

The race was won by Marek Canecky from Slovakia; while Peter Kusztor became the best placed Hungarian cyclist finishing in 13th place.

The V4 Bicycle Race continues with the Slovak and Polish stages, ending in the Czech Republic on May 15th.

During the opening ceremony, Kristof Altusz, Deputy State Secretary, underlined the importance of the Visegrad Group and highlighted the essential role social and sport events can play in fostering the spirit of regional cooperation.
