Hungary has made it to the semi-finals of the Women’s European Water Polo Championships after beating Italy in a thrilling match.
The Hungarian team triumphed 9-10, but commentators say the match was even more exciting than the score suggests.
Italy were 9-7 ahead with just 5:30 minutes to go, then Dorottya Szilagyi stepped up for Hungary, evening the score with just 2:03 left. The Hungarians scored the winning goal with just 29 seconds remaining.
However, it didn’t end there as Italy were granted a penalty in the final seconds - but it failed! The Hungarian team were declared the winners and will now face the Netherlands in the semi-finals.
Greece will face off against Spain in the other semis, and the final play offs will be declared tomorrow.
