Hungary is on course for a promotion after beating Italy 3-2 at the 2018 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Budapest.
The second-seeded Italian team looked the better side for two periods, but Hungary found its way back into the game when Balazs Sebok scored the lead in the third period.
“We didn’t have the best start and we didn’t score for four periods, which is hard for the confidence but after the first goal the momentum just changed a bit. We have to keep this momentum going and forget the game although we’re happy that we won because there are more important games to come,” Sebok said.
The Hungarian team won in front of a packed home crowd, records show that 7,150 spectators were seated in the Laszlo Papp Sportarena for the play off.
“It’s amazing to play home and we want to give something back to the fans. Three more games and we want to make the most out of it,” he added.
