Hungary ranked in 21st place on Global Peace Index 2019

Hungary is one of the highest placed countries in Europe, coming ahead of Germany, Italy, UK, France and other EU Member States.

The USA is ranked only in 128th place, after several African and South American countries. The least safe is Afghanistan, with Russia also falling into the unsafe category.

The 2019 GPI report finds that the average level of global peacefulness improved very slightly this year and is the first time the index has improved in five years.

The GPI covers 99.7 percent of the world’s population, measuring the state of peace using three measures: the level of Societal Safety and Security; the extent of Ongoing Domestic and International Conflict; and the degree of Militarization.
