Tristan Azbej, the state secretary in charge of humanitarian programs for persecuted Christians, said that items of a consignment containing 180 tents and hundreds of packages donated by Hungary to aid the victims of recent heavy floods in Chad have been distributed in that country.
The packages contain basic household items, hygiene products for women and school kits, Azbej said in a statement, adding that "special attention must be paid to ensure that the packages get supplied to the most vulnerable groups, namely to women and children".
He said that the recent donation "is another example of the dedicated cooperation between the Hungary Helps humanitarian program and the Republic of Chad".
Chad is tackling one of the most devastating floods of its history which has affected close to 1.9 million people and has claimed several hundred lives, Azbej noted.
