Krisztián Tóth has taken the gold medal at the International Judo Federation (IJF) Budapest Grand Prix at the László Papp Sportaréna over the weekend.
His win delighted the home crowd and sent out a message to the rest of the field ahead of the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.
The silver medalist at the 2014 World Championships, who is expected to be one of the top seeds at the Olympics. produced a powerful performance on his way to victory over Mihael Zgank of Slovenia in the final.
The bronze medals were claimed by Celio Dias of Portugal and European Games champion Kirill Denisov of Russia.
