Hungary’s tourism industry is booming and the amount of people visiting the country is on the rise, it has been revealed.
According to the Central Statistical Office (KSH), overall tourist revenue grew by 15.2 percent to 56 billion HUF (180m EUR).
The number of guest nights spent in commercial accommodation in Hungary rose by 3 percent annually to 4,439,000 in August.
Guest nights spent by Hungarian tourists rose by 2.3 percent to 2,390,000, while nights spent by foreign visitors increased by 3.8 percent to 2,049,000.
MTI states that hotel revenue per room jumped by 14.3 percent to 15,557 HUF. The average room price was up 11.8 percent at 21,066 HUF.
What’s more, the occupancy rate at hotels rose by 1.6 percentage points to 73.8 percent in one year. In January-August total guest nights were up 6.9 percent compared with the same period last year.
