Justice Minister Judit Varga has hit back at remarks made by Democratic Coalition lawmaker Ágnes Vadai, who said yesterday that “the government might release thousands of criminals”.
Contrary to Vadai’s suggestions, Minister Varga said the government will not consent to releasing any convicted criminal before their prison term is served.
The minister said the government is working hard to introduce even stricter probation rules. She noted that the government had introduced a stricter penal code, as a result of which the number of serious crimes has been halved.
