Major-General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi nominated commander of the Hungarian armed forces

Ruszin-Szendi will replace Colonel General Ferenc Korom whom the defense minister relieved of his post last week.

Defense Minister Tibor Benkő has nominated Major-General Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi commander of the Hungarian armed forces at a staff meeting in Székesfehérvár, in central Hungary.

According to MTI, Ruszin-Szendi will replace Colonel General Ferenc Korom whom the minister relieved of his post last week. Korom was relieved starting June 1 at his own request. During his service, Korom oversaw the separation of the Hungarian army from the defense ministry and moved its headquarters to Székesfehérvár, and restructured the armed forces.

Addressing the staff, Minister Benkő praised Korom for achievements in the armed forces’ development since 2018. Korom’s term was to have expired on May 15, 2023.
