The mortgages of families are reduced by HUF 1 million when they have their second child, by 4 million when they have the third, and again by 1 million each after the third.

Katalin Novák, Minister in charge of Family Affairs, said a government program aiming to help families with new babies has so far eased the mortgage burden of some 30,000 families.

According to MTI, the minister said that under the scheme the mortgages of families are reduced by HUF 1 million (EUR 2,800) when they have their second child, by 4 million when they have the third, and again by 1 million each after the third. Minister Novák said the government seeks to ensure that children are raised in safe households and under improved conditions, adding she hoped that the number of participants in the scheme would grow further.
