Prime Minister Viktor Orbán recalled on Wednesday that a year ago former European Central Bank President Mario Draghi sounded the alarm in Budapest over the crumbling competitiveness of the European Union, but “Brussels bureaucrats did not take him seriously.”
Writing on his Facebook page, Orbán noted that Draghi has now warned the situation is even worse. “In this environment we must keep Hungary on a path of growth. And we will succeed,” he declared.
The Prime Minister pointed to key government measures, including “the largest home creation programme in Hungary’s history, a family-friendly tax revolution unique in Europe, and protecting utility price cuts by rejecting the reckless decoupling from Russian energy while making smart use of green energy.”
PM Orbán concluded by stressing: “Brussels is on the wrong track. We will continue on our own Hungarian path.”
