Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met Sahiba Gafarova, the head of Azerbaijan’s National Assembly, on Tuesday to discuss bilateral ties in energy policy, education and trade.
According to MTI, PM Orbán and Gafarova agreed that Azerbaijan’s role in Europe’s energy supply will increase in the coming years, as gas fields in the area will be increasingly exploited. Cooperation in education is also becoming stronger, with 900 Azeri applicants for government grants to study in Hungary this year. Trade volume between Hungary and Azerbaijan has jumped by 88 percent this year. Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, also attended the meeting.
