Prime Minister Viktor Orbán held talks with Duma Gideon Boko, the president of Botswana, during an official visit on Friday.
The meeting "is of historic importance", the statement said: this is the first visit of a high-level Motswana state official in Hungary since the start of diplomatic relations in 1980.
PM Orbán and Boko discussed expanding ties in the economy, education and development policy.
After the meeting, Boko was scheduled to have talks with Hungarian company execs, then attend the opening ceremony of the World Judo Championships in Budapest.
