PM Orbán: Hungary and the US uphold and defend the same values

US ambassador to Hungary David Cornstein said the Prime Minister is a partner and friend and the same can be said about the ties between the two countries.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has said that Hungary and the United States uphold and defend the same values.

During his speech at the Independence Day reception at the US embassy in Budapest, the Prime Minister mentioned that the two countries’ relationship has had its highs and lows, good and bad times in the past few years, “Hungarians now feel that these are good times,” he said.

PM Orbán added that the two countries’ relationship has always been defined by the degree of overlap between the values supported by the US administrations and the Hungarian people. “Americans say America first for good reason, and Hungarians say Hungary first for the very same reasons,” PM Orbán said.

This was the first time in nine years that PM Orbán has attended the Independence Day reception at the US embassy.

US ambassador to Hungary David Cornstein spoke about his good relationship with PM Orbán, saying that the Prime Minister is a partner and friend and the same can be said about the ties between the two countries.
