Several news outlets have today reported that Prime Minister Viktor Orbán is to meet with President Trump for talks during the NATO summit in Brussels in May.
Although there are already plans in motion for the prime minister to visit Washington for an officil visit, sources say the prime minister and President Trump are set to step to the sidelines of the NATO summit to discuss Hungary-US relations.
President Trump confirmed his attendance at the summit following a conversation with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg on Sunday, where "the leaders discussed how to encourage all NATO allies to meet their defense spending commitments."
PM Orbán became one of the first leaders to congratulate Donald Trump on winning the presidency back in November. Sources say that there will be a number of discussions on the table when the pair meet, including the migrant crisis, Russia sanctions, NATO, and a new US policy toward Hungary.
