PM Orbán: “We will not accept Ukrainian interference, there will be no pro-Ukraine government in Hungary”

“We call on President Zelenskyy to call back his agents – Hungarians will decide their own future," PM Orbán said.

Prime Minister Viktor Orbán said Hungary rejects any attempt by Ukraine to influence its domestic politics and elections, speaking at a campaign rally in Törökszentmiklós.

At the center of his speech, Prime Minister Orbán stated: “We do not accept that Ukrainian manipulation is intended to influence the outcome of the Hungarian elections,” adding that “we will decide what kind of government we want.”

He said that Ukraine has carried out intelligence operations in Hungary, saying the country had been turned into a “secret service theatre of operations,” with “Ukrainian spies in and out” who have “made their way into political life, close to journalists, and into political parties, most notably the Tisza party.”

The Prime Minister issued a direct message to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, stating: “We call on President Zelenskyy to stop this immediately and call back his agents.”

Prime Minister Orbán framed the upcoming election as a strategic choice, declaring: “The question is whether Hungary will have a national government or a pro-Ukraine government.” He warned that a pro-Ukraine leadership would “drag Hungary into the war and strip Hungarian families of their resources,” while a national government would “say no to war and protect the Hungarian people’s money.”

He reiterated that Hungary had already fulfilled its humanitarian obligations. “We opened our borders, gave shelter and food, and created Ukrainian-language schools,” he said, but stressed: “We owe nothing to Ukraine, and we will not destroy ourselves for a war that is not ours.”

Closing his remarks, Prime Minister Orbán underlined: “There will be no pro-Ukraine government in Hungary,” emphasizing sovereignty and national decision-making as the central stakes of the election.
