President Putin to visit Budapest in October

During Putin's visit to Budapest, Hungary and Russia will sign two cooperation agreements in the fields of social security and oncology.

President Vladimir Putin is expected to visit Budapest on October 30th.

According to MTI, Péter Szíjjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, discussed details of the visit with Russian Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov in New York on Wednesday, on the sidelines of a UN conference on peace processes in Africa.

Minister Szíjjártó said the two discussed details of the visit and items on the agenda for Putin’s meeting with Hungarian officials. He added that Russia has proven a reliable partner – Hungary, which depends on Russian natural gas imports has already received the full amount necessary for this coming winter’s supply and next year’s gas supply is also assured.

The expansion of Hungary’s only nuclear plant, Paks, which is being developed with the help of state-owned Russian firm Rosatom is progressing according to schedule. During his visit to Budapest, Hungary and Russia will sign two cooperation agreements in the fields of social security and oncology.
