President Sulyok holds talks with speaker of National Assembly of Pakistan

Hungary and Pakistan this year mark the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations.

President Tamás Sulyok held talks with Ayaz Sadiq, the speaker of the National Assembly of Pakistan, in his office on Thursday.

According to MTI, the main topics of discussion included strengthening bilateral economic cooperation with special regard to energy, agriculture, food production, railway infrastructure development, water management and defense industry development projects.

They also discussed opportunities available for dozens of Pakistani students to study at Hungarian universities under the government's Stipendium Hungaricum scholarship program, "a flagship of bilateral cooperation in education," said a statement.

"With its balanced foreign policy, Pakistan, similarly to Hungary, gives priority to mutual cooperation," it said.

The two countries this year mark the 60th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations, the statement noted.
