Deputies of the ruling Fidesz-Christian Democrat parties held a formal vote to support the nomination of Katalin Novák as the next president of the republic. Máté Kocsis, Fidesz’s parliamentary group leader, said the nomination had been supported unanimously. Parliament is scheduled to elect the next president on March 10.
