Russian suspected of murder and jewelry heist extradited from Hungary to Russia

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office confirmed that Boris Postolaki has been sent back to Russia after being arrested in Hungary in July 2017

A Russian suspected of murder and stealing more than 74 million HUF (230,000 EUR) worth of jewelry from Moscow has been extradited from Hungary to Russia, Russian news agency Interfax revealed on Tuesday.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office confirmed that Boris Postolaki has been sent back to Russia after being arrested in Hungary in July 2017.

In June 2015, Postolaki and his accomplices entered a jeweler's apartment in Moscow, where his mother was at that time. The attackers tied her up and gagged her, causing her to suffocate to death. They then stole cash and jewelry and fled.

Postolaki went on the run in April 2017, and an international warrant was issued for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and detained in Hungary in July 2017.

The Russian Prosecutor General's Office sent a request to Hungary for his extradition to Russia in August 2017, and the decision to extradite him was granted in April of this year.
