A fresh survey by Századvég has found that Katalin Novák, the ruling parties’ presidential candidate is “well-known and popular” among respondents. Fully 92 percent of the respondents said they knew of the candidate and 51 percent said they had a good opinion of her. Forty-two percent, however, held a negative view. Seven percent said they did not know or declined to answer. Parliament will elect Hungary’s next president on March 10, in view of President János Áder’s term expiring on May 10. Novák, if elected, will be the country’s first female president.
