The national police headquarters said 5,060 people crossed into Hungary directly from Ukraine on Tuesday, while another 4,746 from Ukraine crossed via Romania. Police issued temporary residence permits valid for 30 days to 407 people. Holders of such permits must contact a local immigration office near their place of residence within 30 days to apply for permanent documents. Budapest police received 253 refugees, 137 children among them, by train.
