Stephen Bannon the outspoken American media executive and former chairman of Breitbart News, has spoken at the prestigious V4 ”Future of Europe” conference in Budapest.
During his long-awaited appearance, Bannon wasted no time in kicking off his speech by praising Prime Minister Viktor Orbán. He also spoke about the media sphere in Europe and how there is not really a political opposition anymore but a ”media opposition”.
He said that during an interview with BBC news recently, the reporter asked him about Hungary. The exact question she asked: ”He [PM Orbán] said he was going to defend a Christian nation. Is this the end of liberal democracy? ”
”I said, Come on! Liberal democracy worked for them just fine for the 40 or 50 years they were winning elections. As soon as they start losing, we’re all fascists. We’re all authoritarians, mini dictators,” he said.
