Hungary is sending 200,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Egypt to boost its vaccination campaign and strengthen virus protection efforts in the north African country.
Hungary is sending 200,000 doses of the coronavirus vaccine to Egypt to boost its vaccination campaign and strengthen virus protection efforts in the north African country.
The prime minister has also called for EU restrictions preventing Egypt from purchasing equipment for border protection to be lifted.
Péter Szijjártó, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, said Europe had been under constant pressure from migration since 2015.
“Egypt is doing a great service for the whole of Europe, especially now that illegal migration involves major health risks. For this reason it deserves every possible assistance from the European Union,” the foreign minister said.
The president said Hungarian researchers who have been working on excavations in Egypt for several generations have gained recognition for Hungarian archeology as a whole.
Transmashholding-Hungary won the five-year contract in a tender first called in 2017, beating bids by companies from Italy, China, India, and Romania
The foreign minister said one of the major challenges facing Hungarian foreign policy is the migrant crisis. The minister said it was unlikely that the pressure of migration on Europe would ease, adding that emigration and migration would continue to be ongoing issues in both Africa and the Middle East
