“We are closely monitoring developments in Niger,” the defense minister said on Facebook.
Tristan Azbej said that until the coup on July 27, Niger was “one of the last stable states of the Sahel”.
“The international operation led by the Italian army involved the evacuation of nearly 100 people from Niamey and we managed to arrange a Hungarian citizen to also board the aircraft,”...
The foreign minister said the situation in the region’s key country, Niger, remains “critical”, with the military having “practically taken the president hostage”.
The prime minister said Hungary condemns every attempt aimed at undermining Niger’s peace and stability.
