Gergely Gulyás also announced that discounts on certain products supermarkets have been obliged to apply would increase from 10% to 15%.
In an extraordinary Government Info session this morning, Minister Gulyás announced the government’s latest measures.
The cabinet has decided to introduce a new tool based on Greek and French examples — classifying basic foodstuffs into 20 categories such as poultry, cheese, bread, baked goods, vegetables, fruit and cold cuts — from July 1 at the latest.
Including the 13th month pension, average pensions will grow by 352,560 forints this year.

Now one type of student loan will be capped at 4.99% from January 2023, while another will be still available interest-free for students in higher education.
The prices of fresh eggs and potatoes sold in shops, delivery services and supermarkets will be capped at the retail price level of those products on Sept. 30.
