Hungary's healthcare professionals will receive a 14 percent increase in base wages from January, it has been announced.
Ildikó Horváth, the state secretary in charge of healthcare, said the increase is part of a multi-step wage growth scheme that began in 2016. It demonstrates the government’s dedication to expressing an appreciation for workers in healthcare and to retaining them, she added.
In addition to wage increases, improvements will be made to the working environment and accommodation of healthcare employees, such as building new hostels for nurses.
The increase will affect 81,000 professionals and 4,000 pediatric nurses and will be financed from a HUF 82 billion (EUR 248m) pot.
