Hungary’s Parliament started its autumn session today with an address by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, followed by reactions from all parliamentary parties.
Lawmakers then elected a new external member into the central bank’s rate-setting committee. The candidate, Kolos Kardkovács, is likely to follow Andrea Bártfai-Máger, who resigned from the body to become government commissioner for postal affairs and national financial services.
Parliament will also vote on suspending the immunity of Fidesz lawmaker Roland Mengyi on suspicion of corruption involving public funds.
On Tuesday, lawmakers will hear a report by the ombudsman and his deputy on their work done last year, and discuss a bill on the civil procedures code.
