Hungary is one of the world’s top tourist destinations, according to MTU.
Hungary’s tourism agency said the reason why it remains a top destination is due to its impeccable safety record.
Zoltán Güller revealed that guest nights had grown by 50 percent since 2010, amounting to 30 million last year.
He added that commercial accommodation revenue increased by 112 percent compared with seven years earlier.
Wellness breaks were the most popular draws, he said, with wellness hotels accounting for 42 percent of money spent on accommodation. The number of tourists spending time in Hungary to be pampered grew by 91 percent and over 131 percent more money was spent.
Tourists from abroad similarly came in greater numbers, having grown by 160 percent in seven years, based on estimates of last year’s data, he said.
