Balázs Hidvéghi, the parliamentary state secretary of the Prime Minister's Cabinet Office, said the results of the government's National Consultation public survey clearly show that the Hungarian people believe the future of the country should be secured by supporting families rather than through mass immigration.
Hidvéghi said on Facebook that the survey has also shown that Hungarians find it "outrageous" that Brussels had ordered Hungary to pay a daily 1 million euro penalty for its refusal to take part in the distribution of illegal migrants.
Fully 99 percent of the survey's respondents said the penalty imposed by Brussels was "outrageous" and that Hungary had a right to protect its independence and the interests of the Hungarian people, he added.
The government has processed more than 80 percent of the questionnaires, he said, adding it was already clear that Hungarians believed the country's future should be based on Hungarian families rather than "migration forced by Brussels".
Hidvéghi said 99 percent of respondents agreed that the government should double family tax breaks rather than support mass immigration.
