The cabinet on Wednesday approved the ruling Fidesz party’s proposal to launch a “National Consultation” public survey on the EU sanctions.
“I ask everyone to give their opinion, because only through joint action can we put an end to the rise in energy prices,” PM Orbán said.
The government will decide on its next steps based on the survey’s results. The findings of the survey will be made public as soon as possible.
Hungarians have until August 25 to return the government's latest National Consultation questionnaire.
PM Orbán said the survey was “not on a single issue” but would also influence decisions on minimum wages, family subsidies, personal income tax refunds, the loan repayment moratorium, migration, and child protection.
The survey offers people a chance to express their views on topics such as raising the minimum wage, tax refunds for families and the child protection law.
The official kormany.hu website said the perpetrators used bots to fill in scores of questionnaires.
The survey includes questions concerning a personal income tax rebate for low-earning parents, the minimum wage, the moratorium on loan payments, migration and taxes.
Hungary's 11th national consultation campaign asks for people's opinions on a range of pressing issues, including the economic reboot, family policy, migration, child protection and Hungarian vaccine production.
