Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has delievered a new video message following the EU summit of heads of state and government. Here it is in full:
It is half past two in the morning here, in Brussels, the EU summit of heads of state and government has just ended. We agreed that war is not the solution to any conflict. We jointly condemned Russia's belligerent actions against Ukraine and decided to impose sanctions jointly as well.
These sanctions do not affect the field of energy, so the energy supply of Hungary and other Member States of the EU is guaranteed despite the sanctions. We have decided that more money should be spent on the security of the countries that are neighbors of Ukraine, including Hungary, and more money should be spent on the protection of our eastern borders.
We agreed that we need to behave responsibly. Rash and irresponsible statements will only worsen the situation and endanger the security of the people of Europe. I made it clear that we will stand up for Hungary's national interests and will not allow anyone to drag Hungary into this war. We have finished here at 2.30 a.m. We will continue tomorrow with a NATO summit.
